Faster More Efficient LASERs

Living in close quarters during the lockdown. The family started playing a make-believe science game. Well, the father found a flaw in an equation that may help us to reach further into the galaxy.

Wow! says the son... how?

The father says E stands for energy, m stands for mass and c stands for velocity of light which is known to be a constant value of 3.0 x 108m/s. So son, tell me what does m/s stand for? The son smiles its meters by the second, how many meters traveled in seconds or meters per second.

The mother intervenes, you know son, your father did research on aging were, they sent a rocket up to see if the skin ages faster or slower in space. The father intervenes and says there’s something called the time dilation effect, son. It means son a clock in outer space will move at a quicker or different speed than a clock on earth son.

What does this tell us, son?

Immediately, the child in all his innocence says how can the velocity of light be constant if it has a meter per second when the second varies, impressed the father says yes.

The velocity of light is not constant. So, what does that tell us, son?

Now, the son is totally confused. Use your imagination, if, you were sitting on light particles which are called photons, and providing light everywhere. Would you have weight or mass?

The son replies as it dawns on him what Dad was playing at. So he says" Well at rest this particle's mass is zero. Still, they would have a billionth of a billionth of a billionth of mass. So, what does that tell us, son? Son was completely perplexed. So, the father looks kindly at the son and says remember another famous scientist with some famous laws and especially, his second law. The son hesitantly said Newton’s second law F=ma.

What does this mean son?

If, an apple is falling on your head. It has mass and it’s accelerating to earth due to the gravitational force. The son sitting up straight.

So? If, the photon has a billionth, etc. of mass and it's accelerating there’s some force acting on it in the form of energy. So, if we increase the energy or the force the apple or photon will accelerate faster and if we replace the apple with a feather the mass decreases so, the photon will accelerate slower. Logically, wouldn’t it, son?

Son, hesitantly, “yes” not knowing where this was leading to.

So, the father says I’m proposing LE=E/m which is c2 = E/m. Where LE is only light energy or the velocity of light. So, we are only rearranging E=mc2 to make it more understandable from what I’ve explained to you about mass and energy.

Isn’t force and energy different? The son more alert and quizzing the Dad. Energy is basically the work certain forces like gravity can do. So, the light energy if, figured out as per my new equation exists in nature we can accelerate or de-accelerate a photon by the work we do on it. So, the velocity of light is not constant. c is not constant. The son was surprised. So, according to you father, we can go faster than the known speed of light?

Yes, son. Immediately the mother intervenes so, you are saying we can time travel. According to your father, if we travel faster than light like in a spaceship by the time the light where it was supposed to reach us, reaches us. We might see it already back. Since it’s traveling faster than light. Therefore, implying we’ll be looking into the past. The father laughs, as the mother is bang on. So, he says darling according to my understanding theoretically we will only be seeing a reflection of the past, which has already been and cannot change it. Since that time the spaceship would have already passed. So, are you challenging the creator, dear?  No, love I’m only understanding nature and the creation of the creator and the ultimate truth which is what science is all about dear.  So, are we going to the stars dad, on a planet with life? Son, this is only to make us theoretically understand there might be a way to travel faster than the known speed of light so, we can cover the vast distance between the stars faster within a human being's lifetime. Presenting the ultimate challenge to the human race of traveling to the neighboring stars. This is only to throw a door open to that impossibility, to make it theoretically possible, son.

The rest is for us humble humans to see with time if, we humans can do it in our lifetime. So, to put it in context to dentistry  LASER is the light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. Stimulated emission requires a photon and if the incoming photon stimulates the molecule to emit a photon and the new photon travels in the same direction as the incoming photon. So, as per the new theory, the light can be stimulated by increasing the speed of the photon and therefore, achieving a more efficient LASER machine with more energy.
