Family: Karma? Positive action: effort.

Being a dentist or a general dentist in India, and having a Master of Science in an integrated program in Biological Sciences specialized in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (i.e., genetics) from the USA (FYI: for students interested in applying for a full scholarship with a stipend for research at a premium medical research institute), doing dental procedures would make me a dental surgeon. Along with being the proprietorship owner of our independent dental practice in Indiranagar for 5 years, I also had a mutual understanding at the time, with a tie-up of my personal brand name with GG Hospital and Manipal Hospital for 5 years, visiting them on a shared and honorary basis, respectively. Now, with the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Apollo on their ever-growing digital platform starting in 2025, you will be able to find me there among the list of thousands of doctors working interdependently. As my dental patients' trust has grown, various skills and practices have expanded, which I value the most.

As I move towards completing my online Doctor of Business Administration in Healthcare Management, by publication in my reflective research paper on the thesis of ‘Preventive Dental Care’ from East Bridge University, Paris (France) I would rather call myself a family dentist of yours. I hope to see each one of you and your family’s legacy thrive and not fade away, as this is supposed to be one of the generations that doesn’t die, according to a recent article in Times of India. However, I feel that this is an assumption, as I am not yet aware of research advancing to such a high level.

I had Level 3 clearance in April 2009 before joining the PhD fellowship program on Anti-aging, following my Master of Science in Oral Biology. This opportunity accelerated my work on methylation and its effects on fibroblasts in mice sent on NASA rockets into space. To put it simply, this research delves into how the environment influences you and your genes—an area of study known as epigenetics. It raises important questions about the impact of factors like climate change on our genetic expression and overall health. I noticed that fat can affect the aging process, which is why you see people who exercise regularly looking younger, as long as they don’t overdo it, with a good diet that we have covered. Karma being active—you need to put in the efforts to see some success, as we have seen slowly with preventive dental care in our clinic for our patients and ourselves over the last six months. This has resulted in improvement in their quality of life, with trust we hope and understanding in our financial growth in the healthcare business model in ethical ways, building our own clinic. Now, that simple Telomerase capping can prolong our life, but it’s strange how cancer immortalizes our cells, while apoptosis (the death of cells) is required even for our fingers to form. I’m guessing that the regeneration of our teeth works on principles I am still trying to understand with USAG-1, though it could be a revolutionary game-changer in dentistry if it works after human trials.

And what are its implications in other aspects of regeneration, like nerves (maybe root canal treatment) and spinal cords? This could give HOPE to so many. So, let’s keep our fingers crossed and do our daily Surya Namaskars or any form of prayers or meditation, to salute those scientists. From this humble family dentist, as I’ve coined the term "GP before GP," we hope to refer you for overall health, wellness, and maybe even for your mind or more, or your GP, or you knowing your body-mind connection best. This could be the next step for a mindset shift to occur: being proactive, not reactive. Mental health, (FYI: for a UK based setup in India) a double dose of positivity, and staying young—are all good for us! What about the emotional and mental impact on our genetics—with a smile?

Now, that's preventive dental care turned into an anti-aging measure: Smile and release those endorphins! Change our internal climate: from negative to positive. "Be the change you wish to see." – Mahatma Gandhi
